She is professional, highly responsive, hands on, and has a great passion to share her practical information to our doctors and our team. She has helped to train our lead assistant as she transitions to becoming our onsite medical biller. We have started off with learning how to bill for OAT appliances for treatment of sleep apnea.
Our next journey will be gaining experience to submit trauma and surgical claims. Medical insurance is a totally different venue than dental insurance. We would not have been successful in such a short amount of time without Kandra’s invaluable insight and support. If you are considering helping your patients receive the coverage, they deserve by implementing medical billing into your practice then I highly recommend utilizing the services of Pristine Interprofessional Academy to make it successful!

I’ve previously spent thousands of dollars with two different medical billing organizations and neither put forth the effort to ensure that we were successful, Kandra has! I would encourage you to consider Tips Medical Billing for integration of the use of medical insurance into your dental practice.

I have spent 31 years in the healthcare business, and I understand how difficult it is to deal with insurance. And I know that health insurance is more about the financial and insurance bottom line than it is about health. But as a practitioner, you learn how to deal with that. Being a pretty healthy guy, I've not really had to deal with being a patient and dealing with the insurance bureaucratic mess. Here's where someone like Kandra is a make-it-or-break-it person in your life.
In late October of 2022, I was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in my head, neck, and face. It happened very fast, and before I knew it, I was in a 12 to 13-hour surgery having the cancer removed along with most of my right maxilla, teeth, and part of my lower jaw. It's unsettling, to say the least, to have to deal with that fact alone, but then to have to deal with my insurance, the extremely high deductible, and how we were going to pay for all that. The story doesn't end there. Now I have to rebuild my face, figure out how to get teeth where there is no bone to attach them to, and so on.
The insurance, that I've been paying into for 31 years and haven't used more than a handful of times in that period, is now telling me that in order to do the work I need to rebuild my maxilla and teeth in a practical/functional way is not medically necessary or part of my original surgery.
You've got to be kidding, right?
My wife and I did everything we can to talk to the insurance company and try to change this preposterous perception. The surgery is what removed the cancer, but also the function. I wouldn't have to go through countless doctors' consultations to figure out how to rebuild my jaw function, had it not been for the surgery. The insurance company was not helpful. I was just a number, just a voice on the other end of the line that they didn't have to look in the eye or be held accountable to.
I was expressing my frustration to a very good friend when she told me that she had a friend that could possibly help me.
That was when Kandra came into the picture.
Kandra has been nothing short of an angel and a miracle worker. The characteristic that most stands out for me is that Kandra was highly communicative. A value lost on most people today. Kandra really listened and understood my case and what I needed.
Then, Kandra did something that you also rarely see anymore.
She stated what she believed she could do for me and was, and is, absolutely relentless in getting it accomplished.
Here is the best part. She has been HIGHLY communicative through her fight to get my insurance to contribute to the building of my new mouth appliances.
Kandra has given me hope and peace of mind that I have a true advocate fighting alongside me. Hopefully, someday soon I will be able to thank her in person.
Kandra is a rare person who does what she says she will do and loves to help people so much that she goes above and beyond to fight the good fight.
Thank you, Kandra! You are a rare breed.
